Bonding

Cosmetic Dental Bonding

Bonding is a dental procedure offered to restore decayed, cracked, chipped or discolored teeth. Not only does the technique improve a smile, it also helps to prevent decay in exposed enamel. We use bonding to cover areas of exposed root where the gum tissue has been worn away possibly by overzealous brushers. Most dental bonding is used for cosmetic purposes and is made of a composite resin material that comes in many shades so it will blend with your natural tooth color.

What to Expect

After determining the color of composite resin that will match your tooth most closely, Dr. Guthrie will slightly etch the surface of the tooth to establish an adequate treatment surface. The tooth may be coated with a special liquid that helps the composite resin material adhere. Next, the composite resin putty material is placed on the tooth and it is molded and shaped to match the neighboring teeth. An ultraviolet light is used to harden the material and further polishing and reshaping may be needed to perfect the quality of the material and treatment.

Dental bonding is an easy and comfortable cosmetic dental procedure that can have a significant impact in improving your smile.
