Give Kids A Smile Feb. 6, 2015

Tooth decay is the single most common chronic childhood disease. It is a collaborative effort of many dental health professionals and volunteers to get together to help battle the disease for those with limited access to dental care.

Give Kids A Smile is a nationwide event for Dental Health Month every February. As Chairman of Give Kids A Smile for the Richmond Dental Society, Dr. Guthrie helps coordinate the event in Richmond and has volunteered since it began in 2003. Children from Richmond Public Schools are transported to the Acca Shriners Temple where they receive free dental exams, cleanings, fluoride treatments and oral hygiene instruction.

We make it fun for the kids and those that need treatment that have no dentist are assigned to volunteering dentists who take care of their work for free. The main goal is to increase dental awareness and access to dental care for the children of our community.
