ABOUT ADVANCED TECHNOLOGY
Truly part of what makes a dental experience great is working quickly without sacrificing quality. Dr. Guthrie takes pride in equipping the office with the latest advancements in dental technology to provide patients a comfortable and shortened dental visit.
Single tooth anesthesia
Also referred to as “the wand”, the single tooth anesthesia system allows the slow and steady delivery of the numbing agent directly to the problematic tooth resulting in less pain and anxiety during and before dental procedures. The computer-controlled device controls the pressure and the flow-rate of the injection for an overall more comfortable patient experience. The wand is great for children, too.
OraVerse® reverses the effect of the local anesthetic used during dental procedures. Our patients no longer have to experience the lingering effects of a numb jaw, palate, lip or tongue. We love being able to offer an option to reduce discomfort throughout the day.
The Nomad handheld digital X-ray machine allows us to take high-resolution images right in the patient chair. Patients no longer have to move to an X-ray room for images because X-rays can be taken in the exam room. The digital images are also produced immediately so patients do not have to wait for a diagnosis.
Offering superior resolution with less radiation exposure, digital x-rays are an excellent new way to help diagnose possible oral problems. Digital X-rays not only emit half the amount of radiation associated with traditional x-rays, but they are also much less time consuming. Using a sensor that is placed in your mouth, the pictures are taken and immediately sent to our computer so that Dr. Guthrie can review the information with you.
Dr. Guthrie uses an intraoral camera to capture high-resolution images of your teeth and gums so you can see exactly what she sees. These images are used both for diagnosing and showing patient’s problem areas that may require treatment.
Making periodontal (gum) procedures easier is necessary when our mission is to provide you with the best patient experience possible. The laser technology is also used in smile redesign procedures.
Imagine no more poking or prodding around each tooth looking for decay. The CariVu™ caries detection device is, perhaps, one of our patients’ favorite tools. Dr. Guthrie leverages this technology to detect decay in your teeth, under fillings and in the cracks and crevices between teeth (with light, no less.)
An additional caries detection aid, the DIAGNOdent™ pen is a precise method of detecting periodontics and decay, especially in pit and fissure areas of teeth. This tool is primarily useful in detecting decay in children and adolescent patients early so that minimal intervention is required.
With cases of oral cancer on the rise, Dr, Guthrie uses VELscope® Vx oral cancer screening in addition to the standard intra- and extraoral head examinations to aid in the detection of oral mucosal changes that may indicate precancerous or cancerous lesions. Early detection is always the key to increasing the chance of successfully treating cancer.
Isodry® keeps the tongue and cheek out of the way while also providing suction to create a dry working area. Isodry® manages retraction, moisture control and patient comfort in one instrument. This technology keeps teeth dry and illuminated. Dr. Guthrie uses Isodry® to keep patients comfortable during treatment.
